HAVE YOU LEFT YOUR LOVER YET?
Composition by Sidney Kennedy
About Composition:
Have You Left Your Lover Yet? is a composition written and produced (composed) by me. It was composed using the software Ableton Live 9 which is an industry standard application used by professionals along side platforms such as Avid Pro Tools and Logic Pro X.
Structure:
As marked on the lyrics above. The following is the structure for this composition:
-
Intro
-
Verse
-
Pre-chorus
-
Chorus (Instrumental)
-

Pre-chorus
-
Chorus (Instrumental)

Chorus(Instrumental)
To add variety, each time the chorus is heard in the composition there is something added to make it more interesting for the listener. For example the 2nd chorus (instrumental) has two parts (part A and part B). Part A has been heard previously in the composition at the first chorus (instrumental). After Part A there is part B. Part B introduces another synth on top using a syncopated rhythm.
Process:
The song started when I recorded a guitar chord progression and manipulated it using Ableton live (see below). After that I chopped up my voice and came up with the melody you heard in the chorus (instrumental) today. From there everything else came fairly quickly.
As I mentioned earlier the song was produced on a piece software called ableton live.
Ableton Live is a software music sequencer and digital audio workstation for macOS and Windows. The latest major release of Live, Version 10, was released on February 6, 2018. - Wikipedia
